Best Games To Play With Kids

3 Reasons Why Magical Rainbow Is Best Game To Play With Kids

  1. What would be your criteria for the best game to play with kids?  I would love a board game for kids that would grow with them.  This way when you buy the game to play with your 4 year old you can still play it with them when they are 5 and even 12 year old!  But most of the games to play with kids are for a specific age only.  So when you child gets older they don’t have interest in the game any longer. The Magical Rainbow solves this problem and  is for kids ages 4 to 12.  The best feature of this kids magnetic board game is that the rules can be simple for a 4 year old, or more challenging for a 12 year old.   So when your 4 year old ages you can adjust the rules of the board game to accommodate the child’s skill level.  For example, a 4 year old will want to play the board game using colors only, when they turn 5 counting could be added, and strategy can be added when they are older.  This way they can play the game as they grow and not get bored with it.
  2. The best game to play with kids has to be magnetic!  Kids love magnets and magnets are so much fun, especially when used with a board game.  All the game pieces are magnetic and the colorful game board is 3 dimensional.  The game pieces won’t get lost like traditional card board or break, so the board game will last longer.  Another reason why Magical Rainbow is the best game to play with kids is because it’s also a play set.  The magnetic board game and game pieces can be used as a standalone make believe land.  No one to play the board game with, no problem, use it as a play set by yourself!
  3. Another great reason this is the best game to play with kids is that all the game pieces have the numbers 1 thru 10, and letters A to Z on the backs.  This makes the adventure board game into great teaching tool for parents and teachers.  There are expansion rules for the learning variations, and we all know that when kids are having fun they don’t mind some school work.  The core lessons of counting, colors, patterns, sequencing, and strategy are learned with this adventure board game.  But we all know it’s the game theme that makes or breaks a great kid’s board game, and the Magical Rainbow has the best adventure game theme on the market.  Another very important lesson that the adventure board game teaches is about sharing.  Paddy the leprechaun has a very kind heart and wants to help others in need, and he asked the kids if they will help him give out his gold.  The Magical Rainbow teaches us all about sharing and being a good person, and isn’t that what life is supposed to be about.

When you were 6 years old do you remember what it was like playing an adventure board game? I do, and I remember it being a whole lot of fun!  The best thing about an adventure board game is that they allow you to be creative and use your imaginations.  Take for instance Candy land, parents may see this as a boring adventure board game and after playing it 10 times, and accidently misplace the board game.  But to a child Candy land is so much more, it’s a make believe land with lots of candy and fun characters.  The key element that differentiates one adventure board game to another is the game theme.  The game theme is what allows kids to use their imaginations and make believe play skills.  If the adventure board game lacks good game theme then kids won’t be able to use their imaginations, which is what make are adventure board games so much fun.  If you don’t use your imaginations when playing adventure board games then the game play is boring, kind of the feeling parents get while playing adventure board games.

One adventure board game for kids that really allows for imaginative play is called Magical Rainbow.  The game theme is about a leprechaun who lives on a Magical Rainbow, and his job is to travel to different lands to give out his gold to help people in need.  Talk about a game theme that allows kids to use their imaginations and make believe play skills.  The object of the adventure board game is to get your animal game piece to the end of the rainbow, but the catch is that the leprechaun travels around the Magical Rainbow path trying to know you off!  It’s a really fun adventure board game because the kids are always active, kids take turns being the leprechaun and moving him across the colorful rainbow path.  Another key feature is that all the game pieces are magnetic; they stick to the Magical Rainbow game board.  Not only are the game pieces durable and easy to find, but kids can play with the adventure board game by themselves using the magnetic game pieces as their very own make believe land!

Another great reason to get this adventure board game for your kids is that all the game pieces have the numbers 1 thru 10, and letters A to Z on the backs.

A Special Rainbow Game For Kids

Magical Rainbow

There is something about a rainbow that brings out the little child in all of us.  To me, a rainbow represents hope, I think God creates a rainbow to remind us that he is looking out for us.  No matter how many times I have seen a rainbow I still amazed and stop to enjoy the colors and beauty.  When I was working on developing my next kids game I decided to use a rainbow game as the theme. I created Magical Rainbow, a kids board game for ages 4 and up to help bring out the gift of imagination in kids.  Using a rainbow game theme lets kids imagine what it would be like living on a Magical Rainbow, and helping Paddy the leprechaun give out his gold to people in need.  The rainbow game combines colors and a magnetic 3d game set that keep kids entertained game after game.  The other goal for Magical Rainbow was to create a board game that could be played with one child.  There are a lot of one child families and what good is a board game if you don’t have anyone to play the game with?  Magical Rainbow can be used as a standalone make believe play set.  Kids can imagine being on a beautiful Magical Rainbow, and helping Paddy give out his Gold.  The funny magnetic animal game pieces stick to the 3d game board for hours of fun.

My company, Crossen Creations also incorporates a lesson into the games for kids.  Our first card game was Exact Change, and it helped kids with counting money using a fun card game that the whole family can enjoy playing. Magical Rainbow helps kids learn about sharing, along with basic counting and colors.  For extra learning activities, all the game pieces have the numbers 1 thru 10, and letters A to Z on the backs.  Parents can use the rainbow game and the learning game rule variations to help their kids learn math and spelling.

One of the easiest ways to get into the telecommuting industry is to get a phone job. These phone jobs are more readily available than other telecommuting jobs and usually pay pretty well.

When you first start working on the phone from home, keeping the kids quiet can be a bit of a challenge. There is a fine line between keeping your child quiet and stifling the fun that kids should have every day. Here are some age-appropriate fun board game for kid ideas on what you can do to make sure you get at least some quiet phone time in each day.

For Babies:

1. Keep them busy with some soft toys that make little or no noise. Fabric dolls and stuffed animals are a good choice. You can also use the stackable plastic rings. I found a soft, fabric covered box that came with a set of 4 finger puppets. The box had different openings and a mirror on one side. My baby spent hours putting the animals in and taking them back out.

2. Wear your baby in a sling. You will be able to nurse her while you work and she can take a nap in mommy’s lap. Get her used to the noise of everyday life in your house from the day you bring her home from the hospital. Don’t keep everyone in the house quiet. The baby will get used to hearing your voice and will be able to sleep even when you are talking on the phone…in fact she will find comfort in it.

3. Work while your baby naps. Try to get your baby on a good sleeping schedule that works for you and your job. Make sure you have something around that will sooth her quickly – like a favorite stuffed animal – should she wake up early while you are on the phone.

4. Work when someone else can watch the baby. You can get a few hours of work in while your husband is home. Ask a relative if she would be willing to watch the baby a few hours a week. You can also trade babysitting with a friend or neighbor. Offer to watch her child for a few hours a week, if she will do the same for you.

For Children:

1. Get your children on a sleeping schedule and work while they nap. Don’t let them sleep too late in the afternoon, or you will have a hard time getting them down at night.

2. Work while you husband or significant other is home, or ask a relative if she would be willing to watch your children for a few hours a day. You can also look for a Mom’s morning off program in your area. Your child will get to play with other kids while you work. Trading babysitting or arranging play-dates will work as well.

3. Give your kids a fun board game to play. Many board games work well, or if you have an additional computer you can pick up some age appropriate software. The key is to find a fun kids board game that doesn’t make a lot of noise and will keep their attention for a little while. Make sure you don’t use any given board game too often, or your child will get board with it quickly. My favorite fun board games for kids is the
Magical Rainbow Kids Board Game.  This is a new fun board game for kids ages 4 and up.  The game theme is really cute about a leprechaun who lives on a Magical Rainbow and travels to different lands to give out his gold to people in need.  The first player to reach the pot of gold wins and gets to help the Leprechaun give out his gold. It’s a fun board game for kids and it will help them learn about sharing along with basic counting and colors.  An added bonus is that the game pieces are all magnetic so kids wont lose them so easily and the game will last longer than traditional board games.  Another fun board game for kids is Richard Scarry BusyTown.  The fun board game for kids ages 3 to 8 reinforces object identification, matching skills and kids confidence.

4. Use a noise-quieting headset. If your kids do get loud from time to time – and believe me they will – the headset will cancel most of the noise. It’s well worth the small investment. Be sure to invest in a good quality headset though.

5. Work in short intervals while the kids are around. Kids can only be good and quiet for so long. Make sure you take frequent breaks to play with them. Have a tickle session, take them out to the yard to play catch, play hide and go seek for a few minutes. Just let them be kids and get rid of some of that build up energy.

6. Teach them that they need to listen to you when you ask them to be quiet. They will learn to respect your need for some time to work. Make sure you give them something interesting to do and pay them lots of attention when you are not working. This should work as long as you don’t ask them to stay quiet for hours at a time. Just be firm and stick to your guns when they do get noisy while you work.

Always remember that kids will be kids. Keep your sense of humor. It’s not the end of the world if you have to excuse yourself from a phone conversation to break up a fight or attend to a child that needs you. Your kids will get noisy from time to time. Try your best to keep them quiet, but not at the expense of stressing yourself out or expecting too much from your kids.

The tradition of St. Patrick’s Day began hundreds of years ago when a boy in Roman England was captured and taken to Ireland as a captive where he found God. It is said that St. Patrick could hear from the angels, and that he had raised people from the dead. He was a very active missionary throughout Ireland for 30 years, and that is why he is called the patron saint of Ireland. There have been many legends attached to this saint, and they have lasted throughout the centuries. This holiday began as a Holy Day in the Catholic Church, but over the years this religious Catholic saint’s day has turned into a more secular celebration of the upcoming new spring.

Here are a few facts for St. Patrick’s Day:

- March 17th, the day of celebration, is the day of Patrick’s death.
- St. Patrick, the patron saint of the Irish, was not from Ireland.
- Patrick was an old time missionary in Ireland during the 4th century.
- He brought many people to conversion and into the Christian religion.
- The Shamrock, symbol of St. Patrick’s Day, was a plant with three leaves that Patrick used to demonstrate to the pagans the trinity of God – Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- Maewyn is the name St. Patrick was born with. His name was changed by the Bishop in a monastery in France, after he escaped his captivity. He was not religious at all when he was a child.
- The first St. Paddy’s day parade in America was in 1737, 40 years before the Revolutionary War.
- The first day of spring is March 21st and this could be the reason St. Patrick’s Day celebrations have caught on so big.
- Everyone turns Irish for a day – just wear green, the sign of life.
- Irish dishes include Corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, Irish cream pie, Irish soda bread, scones, Irish cheese bread, and all of these would be a good choice on St. Patrick’s Day.

There are many traditions and legends that have been passed down through the generations, so even the barest of facts have gotten confused. It is not even certain exactly when Patrick was born, the actual date varies about 30 years in early 300 AD but the day of his death is certain, March 17, and that is the important day.

If your looking for a fun way to celebrate St Patricks day there is a new leprechaun game for kids called the Magical Rainbow is a fun game to play with the family.  It has a cute theme about a leprechaun who was given a magical rainbow to travel the world to give out his gold to help people in need.  It’s kind of like candyland but with a lot of fun rules and strategy so older kids will enjoy it, and its also magnetic so the pieces wont break and get lost so easily.
So whether you are celebrating the life of a glorified Catholic saint or the oncoming spring and all the new growth and new life possibilities that a new life can encompass, it really doesn’t matter. Wear something Green, grab a green hat, give someone a shamrock and join in the parade. Good luck and Blessings are meant for all!

St Patricks Day Board Games For Kids

If you are planning a St Patrick’s Day party for children, board games are essential. Here are some board games appropriate for the preschool crowd.

The Magical Rainbow is a fun irish board game about a leprechaun who travels around a magical rainbow giving out his gold to people in need.  The board game teaches kids about sharing and also gives them a fun way to use their imaginations.  The board game for kids ages 4 and up is also magnetic and we all know how much fun kids have with magnets.

Preschool-age children love to fish. You can create a fishing board game with small toy fishing poles and hearts (as fish). Use an empty plastic tub as your “lake” and put into it red hearts cut out of construction paper or cardstock. Each heart is good for a prize. One might be good for a Hershey’s kiss, or other small candy, another might be for a small plastic heart. Put magnets on the cardstock hearts and a magnet on the fishing pole. Then the kids can “fish” for hearts and win a prize at the same time. Each child should only be allowed to “catch” one fish each.

Preschoolers love balloons and you can create a pot of gold target for them to aim their balloons at. Create a target out of cardboard or heavy cardstock and put it on the floor somewhere. You might want to have several targets on the floor. Give the kids balloons that have been blown up but aren’t tied shut. Let them let go of the balloons in the direction of the target and see where their balloon lands. Be forewarned: kids will want to play this over and over again. So either have plenty of balloons ready to go (perhaps held closed with a clothespin) or have plenty of adults around who want to blow up balloon after balloon. You can also play a similar game by putting a pot of gold target into a box or laundry basket and having the children try to hit the target with an inflated balloon. Be sure to provide prizes for everyone!

Preschool age children love a good board game of “Duck Duck Goose” or “Simon Says”. For St Patricks Day, you can put a twist on these classic games. Have the kids play a game of “Leprechaun, Leprechaun, Gold” instead of “Duck, Duck, Goose” or have them play “Leprechaun Says” instead of “Simon Says”.

This is a game young children love. Have them “throw smiles” at each other. Sit them in a circle and show them how the game will work. Only one person in the group will smile first. He or she will smile wildly and widely for the whole group. The rest of the group will not smile, not even a little tiny smirk. Once the smiling person is done, they will literally “wipe” the smile off their face and pass it to the next person in the group, who will repeat the wide smile and hope nobody laughs. The kids that laugh or smile are out of the game (those who should be stone-faced anyway). The game can continue until only one stone-faced person is left. Be sure to provide every child with a fun prize just for trying.

Preschool teachers might want to encourage creative thinking with a little game of “St Patricks 20 questions”. The teacher can have a visual in mind, which might be a Clover, or Leprechaun, or a card or something relative to the holiday. The teacher says “I’m thinking…:” and the children must ask questions about what the teacher is thinking. The teacher can give tiny clues along the way especially if he or she is losing the interest of the younger children in the group. Whoever figures out what the teacher is thinking can be the next one to begin the next round of 20 questions. Be sure to ask the child what they are thinking before the next round begins or it could go on longer than it needs to!

Children love “pin the tale on the donkey” so why not “pin the gold on the leprechaun”? In this game, simply provide each child with a big piece of gold with his or her name on it. Have a big cutout of the Leprechaun on a wall and blindfold each child, spin him or her around and have them stick their gold on the leprechaun (there should be adhesive of some sort on the back of the gold). Once everyone has stuck their gold, let them look at where they ended up.

5 Make Believe Game Ideas For Children

Melissa is making monkey sounds and playing in the forest land with Paddy, a magnetic leprechaun figurine, Frankie is pretending to be a super hero fish and playng in the ocean land with a magnetic dolphin. What do these children have in common? They’re both engaging in the time-less activity of ‘make-believe’, playing with the Magical Rainbow, an imagination game for kids.

Through make-believe, young kids learn about themselves and the world around them. Little babies playing pat-a-cake are making believe. Depending on the age of the child, their role playing games will vary. Imaginative children don’t need fancy toys or equipment to pretend; they’re happy with a box and a toilet tissue roll. When they engage in pretend play with a variety of objects, they’re learning life skills that will help them as adults.

We’ve all watched little children playing dress-up or ‘house.’ Children can create an imaginary world anywhere – when molding clay animals, when helping mom or dad match-up socks (sock puppets are the best after all.) If they’re this creative with just a sock, then think what they can do with special make-believe games.

Often parents feel that their children require expensive furniture and household equipment for pretend play. Remember the little boy with the refrigerator box in his back yard when you were a kid? Everyone showed up to help build limitless structures and the play would go on for hours, or until the box fell apart. Oh well, the hours spent cooperating together and using colorful imaginations were worth far more than any expensive jungle gym or playhouse.

What spurs the imagination of a preschool age child? What type of ‘props’ should parents provide to encourage make-believe even further than what kids will do naturally? Here are just a few Make Believe Game ideas:

Make Belive Game Idea 1: Board Games, the right type of board game can encourage imaginative play. Choose board games with colorful game boards, open ended pictures and fun game characters and theme.

Make Believe Game Idea 2: Dress-Up – hats, jewelry, scarves, shoes, dresses and shirts, purses or backpacks

Make Believe Game Idea 3: Kitchen – lots of plastic bowls with lids, kid size broom/mop/dustpan, towels, spoons, measuring cups, pots and pans with lids

Make Believe Game Idea 4: Family – blankets, pillow, both male and female baby dolls, old or toy cell phones, boxes of various sizes for baby beds

Make Believe Game Idea 5: House – kid size table, cardboard boxes to serve as appliances, furniture or TV, full-length mirror

Playing make-believe encourages little children to play together, and is perfect for play groups and for helping shy children overcome anxiety. Little children have boundless ideas for creative play, but love it when parents or caregivers take part in the activity. Many times, imaginative play can help parents realize that their child is fearful or worried about something in particular. Helping them talk about their fears through make-believe will often lessen the child’s stress and bring you closer to your child.

Encourage your child’s imagination through make-believe with simple and inexpensive toys and props. Your refrigerator box may fall apart, but the fun of building it will last forever.

Fun Board Games For One Child Families

The happy days, when we all used to play board games in a group are diminishing. In those days, families used to have more than a single child and it was a joy to play board games such as monopoly, candyland, operation and others. The joy was in the board games as well as the group interaction. Today with many families opting for a single child, its tough to find board games that can be played with alone. A child needs to play board games. a child enjoys the imagery of games such as monopoly . The imagination works wonders for a young mind.

Imagine parents worrying about their child- who will play with our child? Will he/she never play group board games that we enjoyed so much in our childhood? Will, my kid never know the joy of playing board games? Please stop worrying about that because one manufacturer has solved this problem.

The Magical Rainbow kids board game by Crossen Creations was designed so that it could be played with a group or alone.  The beauty of the board game is that when your child has no one to play the game with they can use the magnetic play pieces and colorful game board as their very own imaginary play land.  As I said earlier, imagination works wonders for a young mind, and what a great way to get more out of a board game.  If your child has someone to play the board game with great, if not then your childs imagination can be put to good use.

Anyone who teaches preschoolers should choose their learning games very carefully. Teaching preschoolers is a rewarding experience and young children are like pliable putty in their preschool teacher’s hands. Those who teach children, especially preschoolers, experience one of the finest joys that life has to offer. If you have ever watched a young child’s eyes widen in amazement as they see a new creature emerge before their sight – as with a science-based preschool learning activity, then you understand the true rewards of teaching children.

Choosing the best preschool learning games for young children will enhance their skills, prepare them for kindergarten, and help them develop important emergent skills. Some games that are critical to early childhood development include:

- Language Arts/ Literacy Games
- Mathematics/Counting Games
- Science Games
- Social Studies/ Character Building Games
- Physical Education/Health Games

You should make sure that any preschool learning game that you select will enhance the child’s understanding and awareness of these core skills and developmental areas. Language skills are critical for developing an understanding of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and communicating. Some simple Language activities may include listening games, rhyming, and following oral directions.

Mathematics and counting games are essential for the early learner’s awareness of numbers, spatial concepts, patterns, and how mathematics pertains to their daily environment. Mathematical preschool activities may include counting, estimating, reading books that focus on numbers, and using items such as toy cash registers and number based puzzles.

Science and Social Studies games are essential for children to develop an understanding and awareness of the world around them. It is important to teach children how to draw conclusion, ask questions, and observe the world that they live in.

Teaching children the importance of health and physical fitness through games is not only fun, but it is also vital to develop their sense of self. Activities should promote safety, hygiene skills, and health through proper nutrition.
